Midnight Showing

The suspense is alive this Friday the 13th as locals watch the first trailer for the film “Entity.”

When local filmmakers, Courtney Hagans (writer and producer) and Will Phillips (lead writer and producer) wanted to film a movie, they choose Pensacola and Gulf Breeze for its proximity and perfection.

“Deciding to film here was a matter of convenience for us and our crew,” Hagans said from San Diego, Calif. where she and Phillips are attending the Comic Con 2012. “We filmed primarily in Gulf Breeze because we luckily stumbled across the perfect house to film at and the owners were nice enough to allow it.”

Hagans and Phillips cast local actors as well as locations.

“The film scene here is surprisingly incredible,” Hagans said. “We had a very impressive turn out for auditions and had a hard time choosing who to star in our film.”

Jerod Perez and Dorie Waters play Casey and Morgan, respectively, who are sent to the home of a family member who has disappeared.

“Their trip takes a turn for the worse when the two discover long-repressed secrets and learn that what’s lurking in the home is beyond anything they could have ever imagined,” Hagan said.

Seems like Friday the 13th was the perfect date to release such a suspenseful movie.

“It wasn’t necessarily planned, but we got to a point where we felt we owed footage to our fan base,” Hagan said. “When our crew acknowledged that the 13th was coming up, we couldn’t have imagined a better opportunity to do so.”

Now that the trailer is released it’s really up in the air what will be the future of the movie, but Hagans and Phillips are working hard to give “Entity” the exposure it deserves.

“We’re doing all we can to promote the film and stay as active as we can,” Hagans said. “Our only hopes are that it gets recognized and that people will appreciate the hard work we put into it.”
