Ever’man Natural Foods received approval from the Architectural Review Board to move forward with plans for a comprehensive expansion of its store in downtown Pensacola. A staple of the city for almost 40 years, Ever’man worked with local architects, Bullock Tice Associates, Inc. to develop a community-friendly design that will enlarge the current building at 315 W. Garden Street, create an outdoor green space, and transform the vacant building just south of the store into a modern educational community center. Staying true to Ever’man’s environmentally-conscious mission, the project will also include energy efficient lighting, refrigeration, and AC/heating systems that will reduce energy consumption.
The expansion and renovation of the current cooperative building will increase the retail area by 33 percent, allowing Ever’man to offer expanded fresh, local, and specialty products. The new space will also allow for the addition of sustainable meats and seafood, as well as new cheese and dairy items, expanded beer and wine, and more bulk items.
“As the only full-service grocer downtown, we want to better serve our members and the surrounding community. We began planning this expansion in 2011 so it’s very exciting to be able to move forward with the project. As we progress, we also anticipate adding between 25-30 jobs –something great for the downtown area,” stated William Rolfs, the General Manager of Ever’man Natural Foods.
