News: Partnership To Benefit Homeless

Press Release:

The EscaRosa Coalition on the Homeless and the Santa Rosa Clean Community System have formed a partnership that is hoped will benefit the homeless by raising funds and promoting recycling and reuse. The ECOH has been making sleeping mats for area homeless for the past year by crocheting old plastic grocery bags. The new project will continue to make the mats, but will also make shopping and beach bags, stadium seats and more items. These items will be marketed by the Clean Community System and the proceeds will go toward support of the homeless.

Two training sessions are scheduled for anyone with an interest in learning how to do this and wishes to volunteer. They will be held at the Clean Community System’s office (Green-Up Nursery) on Tuesday, October 12 and Tuesday, October 19 from 9 am through 11 am. Anyone wishing to attend should register by calling 623-1930. There is no cost but space is limited.
