On Saturday, April 16, 2011 “A Night of Awareness”, a silent auction benefit will take place at the Emerald Coast Convention Center, located at 1250 Miracle Strip Parkway, SE Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548, from 6-9pm. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, silent auction, the Survivor Art Exhibit, and live music by Tiffany Pifer and Raela Villanueva who will perform “Out of My Pain” from The DREAM Project compilation CD; guest speakers will be presenting from 7-8pm. Local counseling agencies will be available to provide resources for suicide prevention and awareness. All Air Force and civilian community members are invited to attend. Comfortable attire – guests are encouraged to wear white to signify the innocence and purity of loved ones lost to suicide, and the hope we have for the future. Survivors are encouraged to donate pictures of loved one lost to suicide for awareness book. The DREAM Project compilation CD’s will also be for sale.

Proceeds benefit the University of West Florida chapter of Students for Suicide Awareness (SSA) and help turn “Seeds of Hope” into a non-profit organization. SSA’s mission is to raise awareness that suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death on college campuses and can be prevented: SSA uses the mediums of music and art to help reduce the stigma surrounding suicide and depression.
