Benefit Art Show Planned For July 15-17

The 18th annual Power of Photography benefit art show and product expo is scheduled for July 15-17 in downtown Pensacola.

The family-friendly event, known for its juried exhibit of the best 300 photo submissions to the annual contest, had over 100 Florida and Alabama photographers submit entries last month to compete for over $2,000 in prizes. The final results, including the coveted Best of Show and People’s Choice awards, will be announced during the free three-day show at the Wright Place.

POP 2011 will include a vendor display and demonstration of thousands of dollars in photo-related products and computer software. The expo will have displays, silent auctions, and charity drawings. The annual event is a benefit for ARC Gateway, an organization which serves over 800 area children and adults with developmental disabilities..

Free to the public, POP 2011 will have over 20 national and local vendor displays. During Gallery Night, various demonstrations will occur from 5 to 9 p.m. in the vendor display area next to the juried photographic art show and Member’s Show for the Wide Angle Photo Club, Inc., the event coordinators.

Saturday, July 16, is the big product demo day. Ryan Kristian from Oregon-based OnOneSoftware will demonstrate Mask Pro + PhotoFrame at 10 am, PhotoTools + FocalPoint at noon, Perfect Layers and PhotoTools at 2 pm, and PhotoTools + FocalPoint at 4 pm. Other vendor products, like Lens Babies, will be demonstrated periodically during the three day show, which opens at 10 am on Friday. Hours are 10 am – 9 pm Friday, 10 am – 5 pm Saturday, and noon to 4 pm Sunday.

Each year over 1,500 visitors enjoy the Power of Photography show and product expo weekend. Parking is conveniently located nearby on Wright and Palafox Streets. Both admission and parking are free. The highlight of the vendor show is Sunday’s conclusion when the silent auctions and donations for the merchandise conclude at 2 pm.
