Jobs: Social Media Background Checks

I wrote about it in 2008 when the DOJ under the Bush administration was checking into to the Facebook accounts of those applying for summer internships to be sure the candidates had the right moral compass and political leanings. Now social media background checks are becoming more common for regular jobs.

Gizmodo ran such background checks on six of its employees, including its editor in chief Joe Brown, and all but one came back clean. The one who flunked wrote this article: I Flunked My Social Media Background Check.
