My Pensacola—Brian L. Turner

Name: Brian L. Turner
Day Job: Staff Psychologist, University of West Florida Counseling Center
Pensacola Resident Since: 2008

Good Eats: I get a lot of love from a good Carnivore and a pitcher with Eric, CJ, and Kismet at Ozone’s, or a double burger from Blue Dots a.k.a.  Blues – if you call or get there early enough. And of course, I go to Jerry’s Cajun Café for their Purple Haze and crawfish tails. Watching Jerry work the crowd reminds me of New Orleans.

Retail Therapy: Pet Smart. My German Rottweiler, King Bailey, makes me a Pet Smart retail junkie.

Watering Holes: Hopjacks on Nine Mile because of their great beer selection and its now so close to my home.

Nightlife: Tuesday night poetry night on the first and third Wednesdays at Sluggo’s. They have great hummus, too. The Art of XXpression at The Game Plan, and anytime you want to dance, laugh, and sweat the Lotus Lounge with Sonny Cao and the crew.

Outdoors: I like to tend to my lawn, rose bushes, and backyard. Occasionally, I’ll catch a good beach pickup football game.

Arts & Culture: Goombay Festival, UWF Festival on the Greens. Go Argos!!!

Never Miss Events/Festivals: Seafood Festival, Great Gulf Coast Arts Festival and each and every Gallery Night with their great vendor foods, nicely priced art, and people. If I can’t be here for these, something has to be up.
